Week #908: Dos Urban Cantina

Chooser: Elizabeth

Join me for the Canasta show on Thursday, stay for the Restaurant Club 24 hours later!

Why?
* Mexican food in my home in Michigan leaves a lot to be desired, so I want to eat Mexican food
* Bib Gourmand winner, 2017
* Happy hour specials. I made the reservation a little earlier than usual, but I can push it back if needed

Michelin review: After several years at Topolobampo, the husband-wife duo behind this gem have taken their knowledge and skills to craft this consistently delicious and inventive cuisine. And, the chefs’ deep understanding of Mexican ingredients has allowed them to create elegant and well-priced compositions. Chunks of slowly braised pork carnitas are hearty, tender, and brought to an entirely new level with squash that pops with bright flavor-all balanced with a bracing tomatillo broth. For dessert, indulge in excellent Mexican sugar pie topped with whipped cream and pecan toffee that is out of this world. The space is comfortable and roomy so that the steady stream of thirty-somethings never make it feel crowded. Curved booths and romantic lighting lend a soft feel.

Happy hour specials from 5-7pm: half-off specials on our house margarita, draft beers and Mexican beers. Happy hour also features half priced snacks including Chicken Wings with a chipotle glaze, Tamal Tots with habanero cream, Chips & Dips with house-made guacamole, roasted tomato salsa and pumpkin seed hummus, as well as Sea Bass Ceviche.
